Her statement was basically saying that some Muslims did something that all Muslims essentially got blamed for. That's not at all untrue, because after 9/11 you did have Muslims being attacked and even Sikhs were attacked after being mistaken for Muslims.

She described the 9/11 attacks "as some people who did something"
Conservatives in 2019 trying desperately to win their BS arguments: "CONTEXT DOESN'T MATTER!!!"

Yoy're a smarter and better poster than this. I expect more from you.

We should have just let her ungrateful self rot in the Somali trash pit she crawled herself out of.

So in your (and trump's) eyes, Somali is a "sh*thole Country."
Nice. Stay classy.

Somalia is objectively a s**thole country.

Quote
An objective claim is a statement about a factual matter-one that can be proved true or false. For factual matters there exist widely recognized criteria and methods to determine whether a claim is true or false. A subjective claim, on the other hand, is not a factual matter; it is an expression of belief, opinion, or personal preference. A subjective claim cannot be proved right or wrong by any generally accepted criteria.

You'd benefit from learning the difference between objective and subjective claims.

20 years of conflict
73% poverty rate
Food prices up 300%
60% of kids not enrolled in school
Average life expectancy is in the low 50s
1 in 7 Somali kids die before the age of 5

I think you need to take your own advice.

Those are objective facts, sure. But, they're being ascribed subjective value.

Again, you'd benefit from learning the difference between objective and subjective claims.

The point still stands that Somalia is objectively a sh*thole country, and all factual evidence proves this. Trying to argue otherwise speaks more about what you need to learn than anything.

As I said to ProudModerare2 earlier in this thread, if you think Somalia is so great, go ahead and relocate there. Let us know what you think.
Let's hypothetically just give you this one. You win, you're right, we lose, we're wrong.

Somalia being a s___hole doesn't mean Somalians or Somalian-born people or Somalian-DNA people are inherently s___hole people. That's a whole seperate thing that you're trying to low-key imply, that you can't possibly prove with evidence.

I do find that Omar is totally ungrateful at this nation when the fact is people like her should be among the most grateful. They gave her refuge , opportunity, and freedom that she would never have gotten in Somalia yet all she does is attacks this nation.

Omar is trying desperately to get people to care about fighting climate change, supports the rights of ALL Americans (LGBTQ and immigrants included)  and she fights against corporate lobbyist corruption of politicians and money influencing politics, including but DEFINITELY not only AIPAC pro-Israel lobbyists who bribe our legislators to support Israel unconditionally on every single issue every single time, even if Israel does something terrible. Lile I said, not just AIPAC / Israel, but also corporations, big pharma, big oil, Koch Brothers, and the list goes on.

Trumpanzees cheer on Trump destroying our democracy and turning America into a banana republic, but criticize Omar's love and passion for America and it's ACTUAL values (not "white conservative values"). The hypocrisy is staggering.

... and trashing our nation non stop Omar comments time and time (again) ...

Where have you been reading that Omar has been "trashing our nation time and time again?"
You say this like she says things everyday. Maybe you should put your energy into someone else who truly is "trashing our nation" and its institutions "time and time again" .... trump.
I swear you act like someone who is totally obsessed with Omar.

I am not a Trump supporter
Yet when you take the time to trash somebody, it's never Trump. You're a Trump... apologist? No, that's too strong of a word. You're a "MAGA enabler".

Christ. I hope nobody harms her. The president is supposed to UNITE the country. Trump has truly made America the land of "you're either with me, or you are my enemy".

Only the Sith deal in absolutes, Mr. "President".

If worst came to be, Omar's family would have a very strong case against Trump and the Republican Party. We got to the point where one of the two major political parties being held liable for the murder of a Congresswoman is within the realm of plausibility.

LOL such hyperbole. This is just a political campaign attack ad, one of many and Trump has been campaigning for re-election since inauguration.
She had a death threat less than a week ago, and the president is stoking the flames here. He's literally choosing politics over her physical safety. Trump is proving to everybody that he's willing to risk her life in order to get / keep votes and support.

Former presidents and others of high importance have received death threats. Rep. Omar isn't the first one nor would she be the last. Of course, her life needs to be protected. However, she should have given a thought to the lives lost in 9/11 before spouting off on her nonsense.
There are one hundred different ways to calmly disagree or criticize Omar without twisting the context of what she said into a propaganda attack ad that makes her look like a monster, less than a week after her death threat. You KNOW this. You are playing stupid to seem like Trump is innocent here, and you should be ashamed of yourself. I won't call you a disgusting person, but your actions on this message board tonight are certainly disgusting.

I believe Omar used those words as a ham handed way of expressing that as far as Muslims as individuals, the content of the act was irrelevant in making determinations about their personal guilt, since they had nothing to do with it.

That being said, this IS a powerful ad, and a disinterested observer who wrongly inferred what the ad is implying might reasonably be upset. It's effective because is no name calling against Omar, just juxtapositions of footage. And the Democrats fantasizing about violence against the congresswoman and her family because she was caught in a political gaffe are offputting.
It's really concerning just how much one person's life is more important to some Dems than the lives lost that day.
Sunken cost fallacy.

Those lives are lost and we aren't getting them.back. All we can control now is saving lives and preventing deaths in the present and future.

How many death threats do you suppose President Trump gets in a day? Are you and Democrats "stoking the flames" and "choosing politics over his physical safety" whenever you dare question his words, deeds or authority? If not, why not?
A) Ever President gets death threats and they obviously get them more then some freshman congresswoman and B) he definitely gets less then his record holding predecessor yet he stoked flames there so you’re whataboutism fails
He also has a Secret Service team and a nation's authorities keeping an eye out for signs of a future assassination attempt all over the nation. He ALSO didn't have a publicly talked about serious death tbreat in the newspapers in the last one or two weeks. He also isn't a potential white supremacist target, which is the type of terrorist that accounts for the majority of hate crime murders in America every year. I could probably tuink of more reasons but I'll stop there for now. The MAGA zombies aren't arguing in good faith, they're gaslighting. You can't convince them with anything logical like facts and evidence, unless it makes their side look good.

because we all know there's no such thing as an unhinged "progressive" who will shoot up Republican politicians because of their politics, right?
They end up actually shooting up Republicans at a far far lower rate each year. Real actual statistic right there.

If you watch the original video, it's quite clear what Omar was saying. Things were going so-so / okay / well enough for American muslims, and then one day in September 2001 out of the blue...

... some people (who 99.999% of American muslims have never met, who speak a language that half of them do not understand, who come from a country that the majority of them have never been to) did something (really bad, but that had nothing to do at all with 99.999% of these American citizens) and now all of a sudden every single American muslim is looked at hatefully and suspiciously. She then makes a comment about how appeasing non-muslim Americans with friendliness is no longer enough, and that if somebody is staring at you very hatefully or strangely in public, it is your right as an American to walk up to them and ask that person why they are staring in that way.

Drill this into your heads, Republicans... CONTEXT MATTERS.

Omar also has a track record of bad mouthing this nation, and saying Anti American stuff
Lots of politicians AND non-politicians do that. Every single Atlas poster including you does that. You love your country but it's FAR from.perfect, and you want / expect more out of it.

So how does it work inside of your head? When a conservative person, or white person, or christian person or person with no foreign accent criticizes the country, it's "them patriotically wanting to save and improve the country"?

And then when a liberal person, or non-white person, or non-christian persom, or person with a foreign accent criticizes the country, it's "bad mouthing this nation, saying anti American stuff, and unpatriotic or even treasonous"?

Imagine if an evangelical said the AIDS Crisis of the 80s and early 90s was "just a few thousand people getting sick from having sex."

That's what Omar's 9/11 comments are like.

More accurately, it would be like a gay politician talking to a gay audience and saying something like, "the homophobia wasn't too extreme most of the time back then, except maybe in certain states, but then at sime point in the 70's, some people got sick and the homophobia got worse. Nobody wanted us to touch ajything or wnybody for fear of being contaminated."

Omar was an American muslim talking to Amercan muslims about how non-muslims were treating muslims before 9/11 and tgen how things changed after 9/11.

I'll cut her some slack as to the above.  She's already shown herself as anti-American; we probably shouldn't pile on with things like this.  I've heard enough from her to know where here heart is, and where it is not.

If she didn’t have the D next to her name I wonder how many people would defend her
Probably a lot.

There are quite a few Democrats who are strictly partisan creatures that will blindly defend anything a Democrat does. That being said, the percentage of partisan Republicans who will blindly defend Republicans is even higher than that.

If Mike Pence himself gave that speech to those muslims about how they shouldn't be associated with the 9/11 terrorists, and how they are Americans with rights like all other Americans, I would be giving him lots of credit. It wouldn't excuse everything else he's said and done, but I give credit where credit is due, regardless of my political allegiances.

The moral outrage invoked by conservatives is laughable. The same people who traffic in bad faith on a daily basis now expect us to join their morally righteous condemnation of Omar? Give me a break. I have no desire to engage in a race to the bottom with obvious hypocrites.

You've made your bed. Now lie in it.
Saying “you can’t accuse US of arguing in bad faith because YOU are arguing in bad faith!!1!” is the very definition of arguing in bad faith.
If you actually read the post you're quoting, that's not what was said.

What was said was "YOU can't expect people to take YOUR moral righteousness seriously when YOU traffic in bad faith".

You either have reading comprehesion issues, or ironically, your post was made in bad faith.
