I think Paul Penzone, the popular Maricopa County Sheriff, would be the best Democrat candidate for a general election, but he doesn’t seem to have shown public interest in statewide office. He has twice in a row been the top vote getter in Maricopa County in presidential election years.

tbh, his 2016 performance was because his opponent was Joe Arpaio

There's always a major race or two that parties manage to blow in otherwise favorable years. Waves are never uniform. Just saying.

I've long gotten these types of vibes from this race, though I'm going to need to see Hobbs ahead in some polls before actually making hat declaration.

Republicans could really own goal this race, and they'd have no one to blame but themselves. Yee wouldn't have won by much, but she would've almost certainly won.
