Tannu Tuva was an independent state until the 1940s and some of that mentality likely remains.

Funnily enough, though...

https://foreignpolicy.com/2023/03/26/its-time-to-bring-back-the-polish-lithuanian-union/

"It’s Time to Bring Back the Polish-Lithuanian Union"

Foreign Policy magazine article on bringing back the Polish-Lithuanian as a counterweight to Russia. Note that the old Polish-Lithuanian did include Western Ukraine which was part of interwar Poland until it was annexed to Ukraine SSR after the 1939 Germany-USSR deal and confirmed after WWII.

Cleave off the Kaliningrad Oblast and make it a joint Polish-Lithuanian condominium. Two presidents serving as joint heads of state, one each appointed by the respective parliaments, and a local unicameral legislature elected according to EU transparency and accountability standards by party-list proportional representation.

Excuse me, but Kaliningrad is rightful Czech territory.

Russia is, of course, calling this "terrorism". Oh my sides.

So are quite a lot of people with #FreeNavalny in their bio. If there's a lesson I learned from trawling trough Russian Twitter, it's that you should find yourself someone who loves you as much as Russian anti-war liberals love parroting Putin's propaganda.

Where in Seattle? (obsessive about demographics)

Tried googling the street names and apparently it's somewhere in Roy?

'Cost Of War': Czech President Says Russians In West Should Be 'Monitored'

The interesting things is not so much the speech itself (it's bloody obvious even if Western Europe is sticking its head in the sand about it), but the reaction of Russian opposition. I give it a month until these "good Russians" start calling for bombing Prague.

In lighter news, Alexander Dugin's student turned chairwoman of Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation shares her strong opinions on, er, cartoon dogs.

You know, maybe Russia wouldn't be such a sh/thole if the opposition spent time fighting Putin instead of getting theatrically offended by random teens on twitter.

Normally I’d chalk this up to different journalists phrasing things differently, or at worst incompetence… but after the whole “we refuse to call Hamas terrorists” saga, I’m increasingly convinced BBC is infested with Corbynists who wouldn’t know objectivity if it hit them in the face.

I wanted to write a rant about Politico’s utterly deranged The Most Powerful Players in Europe, but I think this sums it up. Well, this and “Zelensky brought war to Europe” — yes, really.

After Sinn Féin’s victory in the next Irish election, Orbán will get a new ally.
