I don’t hate the guy or anything, but for most people the first word that comes to mind after hearing his name is “corny”, or something worse. Thrift Shop was stupid but fun, while things like White Privilege II are just cringeworthy and have aged badly. I doubt a protest song that will be forgotten in six weeks is gonna revive his career. I suppose stranger things have happened though.
I did hear his recent song No Bad Days on the radio a few times and liked it, though that was more on the featured artist than him. Just looked it up and apparently it didn’t chart anywhere, which is a little surprising to me.
