What other districts in the country are so completely under the thumb of a political machine as this? I suppose some of the Long Island Republican districts were, back in the day.

What other districts in the country are so completely under the thumb of a political machine as this? I suppose some of the Long Island Republican districts were, back in the day.

Albio Sires's district, Rothman's district, Payne's district, and Pascrell's district.

Sires we've seen this to be the case, and I'm sure it would be true if Payne were to retire. If Pascrell retired, though, that seat would be competitive, and any seat where the Republicans have an opening can't be said to be owned by a Democratic county machine, at least not as I was thinking it, even if the nomination could be.

NJ-11 and NJ-2 might seem to qualify by the same standards as NJ-8. The Morris and Atlantic Republican machines would control those nominations, if they went open, and in NJ-11, that's the election.
