I wouldn't expect so many Italian names in West Virginia politics.... Preservati, Capito, Oliveiro (knocked out Mollohan), and in googling that found out Manchin is Catholic.

I suspect a lot of them come from immigrants who came over for the coal mines.

Ah, wikipedia agrees.

I remember as a kid seeing historical footage from the 1960 Dem primary and JFK's presumed problems as a Catholic in WV, so I assumed the state was more homogeneous than it is.
