This is why it was always stupid for Obama voters on this forum to say that Virginia and Ohio were ever "Lean Obama" states. These are swing states. The only reason they wouldn't be swing states was if President Obama ran away with the election. Since the RCP average never went over +4.0 Obama, I don't think you can ever say that President Obama ever was in that position. There has been a lot of irrational exuberance the past few weeks. This is reality. President Obama has a fit on his hands.

"Lean" states certainly are swing states. The "Lean" describes if one candidate has a repeatedly observed advantage in polls at that moment in time. It would be silly to describe a state like Ohio as a toss-up where poll after poll showed Obama up by 4-8 points.
