Good for him.  I fully support this.

It seems like a terrible business plan, all other issues aside. Although I'd love to hear Sarah Palin endorse a gay bar two blocks from Ground Zero. As a Peace-loving Gay, I refuse to refudiate it.

Good for him, I guess. I know two (2) Muslim gays, though neither of them live in NYC.

I'm not going to bother being offended, but it's sad that this guy doesn't recognize that gay Muslims have their choice of every other gay bar in the city if they want to go out, and don't have much trouble meeting other gay Muslims if they want to. How is he going to "cater" to Muslims in particular?

Edit: A floor serving no alcohol--that's considerate. In my experience, the way bars make that work when they have to (liquor license cuts off before closing time) is by charging a hefty cover, which could be tough. Anyway, let's see if this goes anywhere in a week or so...

Well, duh.  So, after a couple of months, when it goes belly up, everyone will move on with their lives.

Do you think these investors are actually going to follow through? They've already gotten headlines, they don't need to do more.

Some more information about the guy who is behind this idea, which should put to rest the theory that this is anything more than a media stunt:

Someone else pointed out that you can't get a liquor license for a spot within 200 feet of a house of worship in New York.

But it's not a mosque.  It's an Islamic cultural center - or so claim the mosque's proponents.  And if there's no mosque there yet or a place has an existing liquor license...

There's no problem here—It's a cultural center that includes a mosque, but also serves other purposes.
