Would you recommend it? I'm thinking of picking up a copy - iTunes is offering me Swarowsky's recording with the Grosses Symphony Orchestra as cheapest at moment, but will have a look around some shops too.
Well, my experience with Wagner is limited (only recently did I find a liking for his music), but I found Zagrosek's interpretation of all the Ring Cycle excellent. The singers all perform at least adequately and many are outstanding and Zagrosek's swift interpretation is very satisfying.

Hmmmm, had a look for it and it seems a bit out of my price range. Ah well, life of a student.
Yeah, Wagner's love for the grandiose makes his music rather pricey. I have gotten acquainted with it by subscribing to Naxos' service which allows one to listen to all their tracks for $19.95 a year. The big downside is you can't download it.

I made the great mistake of listening to a collection of 20th century "classical music". Now I'm listening to Mozart to soothe my poor ears.

Hmm. What "20th century classical music" in particular was this [qm]. Important to know, in order to tell if you're a hp or not.
It was a potpourri with works from Debussy to Takemitsu. It was the avant-garde stuff by Varèse, Messiaen, Boulez, Stockhausen, Takemitsu, and Cage that I couldn't stand. There were a few works by Debussy, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Ravel, Vaughan Williams, Britten, and Bartók that I enjoyed. So am I an HP?
