For whatever it's worth this is basically my feeling on his change in position. A good position for him to arrive at; if only he didn't arrive at it for the wrong reasons.

In response to being asked about Portman's change of heart, Kasich endorses civil unions but quickly amends his position to state he supports them as long as they're not civil unions, basically settling any doubt that these people actually don't give a f**k about opposing gay rights except to maintain political support.
