If Newsom doesn't win by double-digits, he shouldn't run for re-election. It will hurt downballot where there are already too many very conservative Republicans winning in places they shouldn't be.

If Larry Elder becomes the next California governor, wouldn't he necessarily lose in 2022 as and be a lightning rod that could endanger suburban Republicans?

Elder is too far right, he gives Black conservatives a bad name....

Uncle Tom will be plastered to his name for a long, long time...

Newsom will prevail, but his political future is over at the same time. He will never be president. NEVER.

If I were him, I would make this my last election.

The endless cycle of not accepting results and claiming fraud is a source of huge income. Elder is not going to walk away from this empty handed and huge checks from gullible donors is far superior to actually winning the race anyway.

Their base exists as their servants. Once they are done destroying society and making it back in their image, they will become to their base the landlords they can never leave.

If you average the male and female #s from the exit polls….:

https://www.cnn.com/election/2021/exit-polls/california/recall

then you get….

No 58%
Yes 42%

Looks like that will be about it.

Is it possible that all of these victories will finally give Democrats some cajones to actually get something done for the voters who keep overwhelmingly rejecting the GOP in election after election?

Well certainly this doesn't feel like the first elections after Obama won, or Trump won for that matter.

I think we may just be seeing it finally become the case that Democrats in blue states catch up to Republicans in red states as far as being lock-step partisan voters no matter what. That might be bad news for future Charlie Baker, Phil Scott, etc. types down the line. Probably bad news for bipartisanship in general in the country. But good news for Democrats who need to finally stop bringing knives to gunfights.

And not a moment too soon.

I find it interesting that Asians are so much more supportive of covid restrictions than Latinos given that Asians tend to have less comorbidities than Latinos, less likely to live in multigenerational housing, etc

Southerners as a group are the most unhealthy Americans in terms of comorbidities.  They're also not really masking up or getting vaccinated.  Almost like people who are irresponsible about masking/vax are also irresponsible with respect to their health in general...

You really seem to be having a breakdown, are you okay?

He’s just really passionate, but it does come off as a bit hateful and visceral

It’s unhealthy to be so angry.

And not sure why his avatar is libertarian. He’s not libertarian

I thought personal responsibility was part of libertarianism but I agree with you that he’s probably as libertarian as I am. Someone who is liberal with a “libertarian” streak but not neoliberal. Not really a “progressive” and doesn’t identify as a Social Democrat.
