It is contradictory, yes, but I beleive there is a way that he comes to that in an honest way. However, his idea is based on that he knows everyone's interest and the sooner we learn to focus on making the horse drink, instead of forcing a horse to water, the better off we will be in America. I think fezzy understands that, but he also believes there is no way for us to come together as individuals.  Like Okie, I believe everyone wants the same thing and that the Bible can help us get there. However, like fezzy, I believe that appreciation of what is good and holy comes from appreciation and not paternalism. My ultimate belief is that one must individually develop morally, physically and spiritually in order to be able to take a sincere acceptance of virture and that the public may non-violently assist that individual to do so.
