Not all police are scum.

To many Americans the meme of the Thin Blue Line gives the optics of those Americans having no part in the Common Good. That's why Obama played so well after so many whether they be veterans or civilians, questioned the loyalty of the Iraq War Protestors.

I think my thoughts are is how do we live in a society where people who need basically hate us?

Maybe we are asking too much from the police? Maybe this is why they commit malfeasance? Perhaps they want to protect all of us but don't know how? It is pretty unsafe to have people out on the street who don't know how to help all of us and end up resenting 30-50% of us.

Guys, regardless of what you think of individual police officers or even "the police" as a whole, police unions are absolutely disgusting organizations.
