This is actually pretty good news for Kerry.  Why?  Because early voting is practiced disproportionately by heavlily Republican states.  Generally, most Southern and Western states allow early voting, most Northeastern and Midwestern states do not.

Among the large states, these states allow early voting:
- California
- Texas
- Florida
- Michigan
- North Carolina
- Georgia

These states do not:
- New York
- Pennsylvania
- Illinois
- Ohio
- New Jersey
- Massachusetts

So I would think Bush would have to win the early voting states by at least 4% to be competitive nationwide.
