Hot take: This debate will be very uneventful in the grand scheme of things and will not change the election.

That's a pretty cold take, honestly. Given what happened in 2016, I think it's safe to say that debates rarely move the needle.

Also, "Biden will win" and "Biden isn't doing well in the debates" are not incompatible statements.

This debate is a train wreck, but it also won't change anything. Biden will win in a landslide. It's not incompatible.

People will pretty much impose their own views of the candidate when deciding who is winning the debate (their candidate always wins). It's why debates have become so unimportant and don't move the needle overall.

Biden: "No, I don't support the Green New Deal."

Such a damn moron.

Er...how would embracing that particular laundry list help him get to 270 electoral votes?

A Green jobs program that gives the base a reason to turn out? It'd do the trick.

Say goodbye to all of Biden's moderate and independent support.

Green jobs programs (including the GND) routinely poll well - more so than some of the left's other policy proposals like M4A. It would create jobs in sectors that are prominent in conservative areas like agriculture.

Not to mention it's a bit absurd to think that all of moderates/independents would just suddenly abandon over this one issue (that could bring in a ton of independents outside of the Democrat's core support) when Donald Trump has done so much to turn these voters away - including environmental/climate issues.

So roughly in line with the national polling average. Further proof that debates rarely persuade anyone, and people just see their choice as the winner.
