You just better be ready to bust your rear while campaigning, and get ready for phone calls from reporters at all hours. It's fun.

Do reporters even call minor unknown third party candidates?

Speaking from experience—no.  I felt guilty calling Ginty during his campaign for U.S. Senate against Tom Kean because it had no real backing.  My stories kept propping a nobody up.
