I'm not worried. You'd actually need to find a job, first.

How many fast food runs will there be since Mom and Dad won't be cooking for you this weekend?

Good question.  With his parents gone, this weekend would be the perfect time for him to try cooking something on his own.  But I'm guessing that watching football on TV all day will take a higher priority.

I'll probably have breakfast at home, lunch at home, pizza one night, and maybe a hamburger one night.

You should see if you can figure out that grill thing and make the burger yourself. Seriously. It's pretty much the simplest thing in the world to put meat over fire. Cavemen did it. You're smarter than a caveman, right?

How does somebody watch 15 hours worth of TV in a single day? Scary. Please cease using your bogus "I was in a pinch/I was in a rush" excuses from now on. Thanks.

I'm not even awake for 15 hours some days.

My exact thought at dinner was "I've already blown this day out of the water, might as well live it up today and get back to it tomorrow."

"I've made one mistake so I might as well make seven more, because 1+7 = 1!"

Every day is a bad day. Your diet is still hamburgers, twinkies, and ham sandwiches on white bread with no vegetables.

What I eat is not necessarily the best, but at least the calories are generally under 2K.  Yesterday was an abnormality.

And that's why you will never be healthy. You have an overly simplistic view of weight loss where you believe (incorrectly) that all calories are equal. Further, you seem to believe that exercise plays no part in the equation, and that it's somehow OK to sit around for 50+ hours a week watching TV.

You cannot live on 2,000 calories worth of hamburger, corn, and soda per day. Your body will not get the nutrients it needs, your body will not utilize its fat stores, and your health will only continue to decline. You are literally killing yourself with your lifestyle. And the only person in this thread who doesn't seem to be capable of seeing that is you.

But yeah, keep telling yourself that a meaningless 0.7 pound movement on the scale means you're getting healthier. Especially when that loss was really caused by losing 1 pound of muscle and gaining another 0.3 pounds of fat.

Is "BM" a Bushieisim? Or do other Americans call poops "BMs"?

BM = Bowel Movement.

I know that.  Re-read my question:

My question was NOT what BM stands for.

Americans who do not care to use dirty language use BM.

My grandmother used to say BM. Then again, she was born in 1913.

Can I ask what you're paying for the life insurance?

What his dad pays, you mean.

Wow, Bushie has a $200,000 life insurance policy?? Suddenly all his parents' actions make so much more sense. The poor bastard.

This simply means that not only is Bushie a terrible seller of insurance policies, but he's a terrible buyer of them as well.

Yeah, >$600/year for a $200,000 policy is not that great.  Jeff, what's the term on this policy?

More importantly, there is literally no reason for an unmarried, unemployed 30-something to have a $200,000 policy in the first place. An insurance policy is meant to help provide for dependents left behind, not be a "death jackpot." Bushie is not a provider — he's a dependent himself. He needs a $20K policy to cover funeral expenses, max.

You're ruining the fun of getting to that point through math and logic.

Logic has no place in the Update thread.

Can't really remember.  I know I was duped into buying a phony cruise offer in 2009.  That was only $800.  I just kept spending and spending and spending.  This debt has been racking up since the account opened in 2007 shortly after I graduated college.

That's about right.

even a cheap one costs about 50 cents a mile to run after all the costs are factored in

so when an employer re-imburses me 35 cents a mile I am getting screwed?

Yes, that rate is about 10 years behind reality. The IRS currently sets the standard rate at $0.565 per mile for business purposes in 2013. That's the rate you should be demanding. And if you don't get it, you're eligible to deduct the difference on your tax return. (Though you should talk to a tax professional to be sure.)

You have to go back to 2001 to find a time when the IRS rate was less than $0.35 per mile.

Sure, cars are expensive, but I think also a major factor is the resources available to you.  Car pooling, as Memphis mentioned, is a great idea.  The only problem with my current situation, is none of my classmates live close to where I do, so that's not really an option.  I live in an Oklahoma City suburb, but the mass transit doesn't get out this far and neither do the Metro Tech school buses.  So, that option is out.  Now, when I get a job, I will likely live in an area that is close a bus stop, so it is possible that I could take the bus to work.  I'll just have to wait and see until next Spring.

Why would you ever give up that free car that your dad pays for? It seems so unlike you.

Inks, I see what you're saying, but if I did that, I would die without a wife because I owe them that much!

Sounds like someone needs a financial and moral bailout! Help us, Washington D.C.!
