It is deeply unfortunate that the Dems never seem to learn their lesson from the consequences of gross state legislative negligence. What happened in 2010 has done irreparable damage to American democracy.

Dems could have at very least passed non partisan commissions in 2009/2010 in states line WI and NC when it was clear they were going to lose control of those legislatures in 2010.  There were public polls showing that Dems were going to lose both chambers of the NC legislature in 2010.

Democrats have been utter crap in down ballot races starting with 2014.

Make that 2009.

At least before 2014, they still had the WV state legislature. They didn't win a single chamber of a state legislature in a Trump state in either 2016 or 2020, and of course the vice versa exists.

Republicans won both NH chambers, both AZ chambers, both MI chambers, both WI chambers, both PA chambers, both GA chambers, and the MN House in 2020.  These were all Biden states.
