Sorry for not getting into the debate earlier.

1. The symbol of the party shall be the Chairman. Angry
2. The executive organization of the party shall be the Politburo. Angry
3. The head of the party administration shall be the General Secretary. Grin
4. The Politburo shall elect the General Secretary by a majority vote of its membership. Angry
5. Elections for the post of Chairman shall take place every four months. Grin
6. Elections to each seat in the Politburo shall take place every two months. Angry
7. The number of seats in the Politburo shall be equal to one-fourths of the membership. Angry

Don't like the line about "symbol", hate the idea of the Politburo (no matter what it would be called). The whole membership should vote on positions.

8. If the position of Chairman falls vacant, the General Secretary shall hold an election for Chairman to fill the remainder of the term. Grin
9. If a seat in the Politburo falls vacant, the General Secretary shall appoint a member to fill the seat for the remainder of the term. Angry
10. If multiple candidates from the Social Democratic Party are running for an office, a primary election shall be held among the membership. Grin
11. The General Secretary may suspend any party member for up to one month. Angry
12. The Chairman may expel any suspended party member. Angry
13. A suspended or expelled member may appeal his penalty through a partywide vote of approval on the punishment. Angry

I'm fine with members being excluded from party business by a majority vote, if there's grave reasons. Nothing more.

14. Failure to comply with the bylaws shall result in an official warning. If the incompliance is not rectified within a 72-hour period, action shall be taken by the leadership. Angry

Wouldn't such failure be the leadership's failure?

15. The bylaws may be amended by a majority vote. Grin

I vote we endorse Al, Xahar (duh), Jas (even if he didn't ask), Sensei. Evilmex, you can still run a write-in campaign. In which case I vote to endorse you as well, otherwise I'll abstain on endorsing Colin or the Happy or CK write-in campaigns, against all the other declared candidates.

EDIT: Where did I get the idea that Happy is a write-in from?

A note on Colin: He was a great reforming president, and he's a good active intelligent Senator. I'm perfectly prepared to overlook his avatar and economic stances, and he will receive a highish preference from me.

I really wouldn't waste my time with Xahar. I've realized that Xahar is in the phase of his childhood where he thinks the world revolves around him and everything that happens happens because he caused it to.
You're just jealous because the world revolves around Xahar.

Eastern Time or Eastern Daylight Time, as appropriate. (Didn't the US expand DST post-creation of Atlasia, though? Did we follow suit?)

Could somebody draw or show the official red flag-black star proposal? It should be the next step.

I say we use this

and add the letters SDP (in black) at the bottom right.

No, the yellow. Green has leftist connotations, yellow does not. Although MaxQue's map works, somehow. Maybe replace the yellow on that one with green?

I had intended for the letters to be smaller, btw - although again, in the MaxQue version they work imho.

Lewis, do you accept your write-in name for the Chairman election?
Most certainly not. Smiley

1. A second sentence will be added after bylaw 5. ''In case of tied votes in internal elections, a runoff will happen.''

[ x ] Yes
[  ] No

2. A second sentence will be added after bylaw 5. ''In case of tied votes in internal elections, all tied candidates will fill the position.''

[ x ] Yes
[  ] No

3. Since we can not adopt those two motions in the same time, please say which one do you prefer.

[  ] Motion 1
[ x ] Motion 2

This is an IRV vote - I urge that we either endorse both a first and a second preference (don't care which way in that case, and am not entirely decided on my own ballot), or just call on people to cast a second preference and not split the centre-left vote.

Yes. Party symbol.

I actually really like the SPD's logo. It's simple.

Which SPD? German one?

Yes. As far as I know, that's the only SPD. Wink

The more the merrier. Also, the more the better chance of getting first pref.s from outside the party.
Obviously though, it would be good if every party member gave the party's x candidates his first x preferences. (And Jas should join before the elections if he wants me to do as I say. Tongue)

So Al, Lief, and possibly Xahar.

While I'm for running all three (especially now that Jas isn't running), I hear there was support for running only two. If we run only two, consider me officially neutral on who gets to be Al's running mate, but up in arms against any attempt to nominate only the other two - that might be grounds to leave the SDP in favor of the Painting Horses.

No bad feelings. I just felt it was time for a single-member party again.
