There is a certain correlation - Catholics are more likely to vote Dem than the population at large. But the link is pretty weak, and in fact it's hard to say at times what is cause and what is effect - ie, do Catholics vote more Dem than the nation because there are so many of them in heavily Dem Southern New England, New York etc or are these states so heavily Dem, at least in part, because they are heavily Catholic?
