I've volunteered to run this thing, so here we go.  I've randomly assigned countries to the first seven who signed up, so without further ado, here are our players:

England: bullmoose88
Italy: Emsworth
What does that remind me of?

Perhaps asking the players whether they were ready to start would be a good idea, as I will be gone from tomorrow 'till next Saturday without any internet access whatsoever Wink
I'll play for you till then. Cheesy

oh, sorry, I just got home.

If you can tell me gabu, do I have some time to plan my moves, or would you need them in really really soon?

Take your time; Diplomacy wouldn't really be Diplomacy if people were rushed to make their moves.

Well I wasn't sure if everyone else had put their moves in while I was away for the weekend.

Absolutely no one has gotten any moves in yet.
So whenabouts d'ye want our moves in?

Gabu,

Just curious, will you be doing a newspaperesque interpretation of moves after the first turn?

I don't consider myself nearly enough of an expert at Diplomacy to be able to make sense of what people are doing, but if someone else wishes to do so, they're welcome to.
A genuine interpretation should not be coming from the GM. At least that's my view.

Well you wont be doing much once Verin comes back and you seem to know your stuff so you could do something like that.
I might. Not till he actually comes back though. Although we certainly have more experienced Dippy players on here. (*cough* Muon).

Just noticed the old Dippy thread seems not to exist anymore. Cry Angry

In some games this policy can apply to moves as well as retreats and builds. In that case  the official moves for a turn are the last set received before the deadline.
I molested our gm that way all the time during our previous game way back when.

I have resigned my position as Lord Protector of Austria.

From Fall 1901, look forward to my quarterly column, Thinking Things Over With Ludwig von Trondheim

Thinking things over with Ludwig von Trondheim
Applauding the Greek freedom fight, as they're the last survivor among Europe's small independent nations. Austria might have been better off going through with my original plan there, and ignoring the Italian at Trieste for the time being.
Someone do something against the Anglofrench steamroller, since France is headed for certain victory otherwise.
After the round one moves, I thought Russia and Turkey had a fairly strong alliance going, but now I'm not so sure. Which must be good news for their neighbors.
Apart from the applaudable decision of leaving Austria alone, I don't claim to understand Germany's moves, although he may have been backstabbed by the French.

Italy has ambled into Hungary... it's all my successor's fault. Grin Further events in that region could be very interesting indeed, especially if powers refrain from collaborating too closely.
I've no clue what Russia is up to with army build in St Petersburg. You would think they'd either build a fleet in St Pete or an army further south.

Thinking Things over etc
Ah... Civil War. Love it. Although I guess I should evacuate outta Vienna soon.
I seem to sense a Russian strategy shift - of course, that's because of the change in Prime Ministers there. We'll see if E.K. Ernestyev can hold on to power long and if his priorities will survive if he doesn't.

I think Turkey, Russia and Germany should be put under Austrian control.
