Every bracket/round of voting will remain open until I close it. I'll close it as soon as I find the time, but not after less than 24 hours have passed. I'll post the new bracket and open the new round of voting right afterwards.

In Round one, 435 representatives will have to be narrowed down to 128. Therefore there'll be 128 groups (8 brackets of 16 groups each) of three and four Representatives. You can vote for only one. Only the top vote getter will advance to Round two.
From Round Two, there'll be only the one-on-one matchups you're used to from Best Senator.
Also from Round Two, matchups will be determined purely by chance. Round One is weighted by region.

1.
Tom Allen (D-ME)
Jeb Bradley (R-NH)
Bernie Sanders (I-VT)

(sorry to nitpick but there's only 434 Reps right now, OH-2 (Portman) is a vacancy))
Thanks missed that. Good to hear actually, helps me redress one slight imbalance in my setup for round one.

1. Bernie Sanders (I-VT)
because he's the only independent in the House
2. Mike Michaud (D-ME)
union member, pro choice, anti Iraq war - what more can you ask?
3. James Langevin (D-RI)
because his name is French
4. Tim Bishop (D-NY)
bearded leftie representing what should be a Republican-leaning district
5. Barney Frank (D-MA)
name recognition
6. Martin Meehan (D-MA)
my first name, plus only Democrat in the group
7.John F Tierney (D-MA)
purely tactical vote, I know nothing whatsoever about him
8.Charlie Rangel (D-NY)
is one of Congress' "characters"
9.Gregory Meeks (D-NY)
because Jamaica and Rockaway are both cool names
10.Eliot Engel (D-NY)
because he's from the Bronx
11.Jerry Nadler (D-NY)
I mean, why not?
12.Anthony Weiner (D-NY)
only Democrat in group. Pathetic, isn't? Also, district includes Rego Park, where Vladek lives in MAUS
13.Brian Higgins (D-NY)
Reward for capturing district
14.Louise Slaughter (D-NY)
trusting Nclib on this one
Sorry for the spelling error, btw.
15.Nydia Velazquez (D-NY)
Puertorican.
16.Vito Fossella (R-NY)
In honour not just of Vito Corleone as of Vito Marcantonio
...and always remember...if you can't make an informed choice...make an uninformed one. That's what the real voters do, too.

14 votes cast, a good three hours left on the clock, and not a vote yet cast for Rosa DeLauro and John McHugh. What have they done to deserve this? Smiley We have some very close three way races, btw.

Current standings:
1. Bradley 5 - Sanders 5 - Allen 4
2. Kennedy 6 - Bass 5 - Michaud 2 - Olver 1
3. Langevin 9 - Neal 4 - Larsen 1
4. Simmons 6 - Bishop 5 - McGovern 3
5. Frank 6 - Israel 5 - Maloney 3 - DeLauro 0
6. Shays 6 - Meehan 5 - King 3
7. Johnson 7 - Tierney 6 - McCartney 1
8. Boehlert 5 - Rangel 5 - Ackerman 3 - Markey 1
9. Capuano 6 - Meeks 5 - Serrano 2 - abstention 1
10. Engel 6 - Lynch 5 - Crowley 3
11. Walsh 5 - Lowey 4 - Nadler 4 - Delahunt 1
12. Weiner 8 - Reynolds 4 - Kelly 2

14. LoBiondo 5 - Slaughter 5 - McNulty 3 - Owens 1

1. Bradley 5 - Sanders 5 - Allen 5. A three way tie. Congrats. I rolled a die. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) advances to the next round.
2. Kennedy 6 - Bass 5 - Michaud 3 - Olver 1. So does Patrick Kennedy (D-RI)
3. James Langevin (D-RI) 9 - Neal 4 - Larsen 2.
4. Simmons 6 - Bishop 6 - McGovern 3. Another die roll. Tim Bishop (D-NY) wins.
5. Barney Frank (D-MA) 6 - Israel 5 - Maloney 3 - DeLauro 1
6. Shays 6 - Meehan 6 - King 3. Die roll won by Chris Shays (R-CT) .
7. Nancy Johnson (R-CT) 7 - Tierney 6 - McCartney 2
8. Boehlert 5 - Rangel 5 - Ackerman 4 - Markey 1. Yet more dice...this is sick...at least my die seems to know what's good for him. Smiley Charlie Rangel (D-NY) advances to the last 128.
9. Capuano 6 - Meeks 6 - Serrano 2 - abstention 1. The die has spoken...the winner is Michael Capuano (D-MA)
10. Eliot Engel (D-NY) 7 - Lynch 5 - Crowley 3
11. Walsh 5 - Nadler 5 - Lowey 4 - Delahunt 1. The dice advance James T Walsh (R-NY)
12. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) 9 - Reynolds 4 - Kelly 2
13. Brian Higgins (D-NY) 6 - Sweeney 5 - Towns 4
14. LoBiondo 5 - Slaughter 5 - McNulty 3 - Owens 2. The die seems intend on Slaughter. Louise Slaughter (D-NY)
15. Nydia Velazquez (D-NY) 6 - Kuhl 5 - Hinchey 4
16. Rob Andrews(D-NJ) 9 - Fossella 4 - Saxton 2 - McHugh 0

I hope I won't have to roll this many dice in the future. Weirdest thing is that every single tie included "my" candidate...I hope noone accuses me of cheating, since they won four out of seven including the three-way-tie.

Second bracket up in a moment.

I do find the time to close this semi-on time after all.
I'll close it in ten minutes, so you got ten more minutes to vote.

First off, a note to jdb.
Please, list the people you're voting for in the order of the groups. Especially when you abstain on two groups. It's asking a bit to sort your vote out. Ahem. I've counted it anyways.

1.  Tim Holden (D-PA) 6 - Chabot 3 - Smith 2 - Brady 2
2.  Chaka Fattah (D-PA) 7 - Murphy 4 - Garrett 1 - abstain 1 - Turner 0.
3.  Frank Pallone (D-NJ) 5 - English 4 - Platts 4
4.  Michael Oxley (R-OH) 5 - Hart 4 - Ferguson 2 - abstention 2
5.  Tie. Ryan 4 - Peterson 4 - Pascrell 3 - Gillmor 2. Coin toss (no die here) won by Tim Ryan (D-OH)
6.  Strickland 6 - Gerlach 6 - Rothman 1. Coin toss won by Jim Gerlach (R-PA)
7.  Donald Payne (D-NJ) 8 - Weldon 5 - Hobson 0
8.  Frelinghuysen 4 - Ney  4 - Fitzpatrick 3 - Boehner 2. Coin toss won by Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-PA)
9.  Rush Holt (D-NJ) 7 - Shuster 3 - Kaptur 3
10. Don Sherwood (R-PA) 6 - Menendez 4 - Kucinich 3
11. Paul Kanjorski (D-PA) 6 - Jones 3 - Carson 2 - Visclosky 1 - abstention 1
12. Jack Murtha (D-PA) 8 - Chocola 4 - Tiberi 1
13. Schwartz 4 - Brown 4 - Souder 4 - abstention 1. Very funny. Since I don't have a die, I cossed a coin three times - three one-on-one matchups. Everyone won one. I repeated the exercise, and am now proud to proclaim that the PA-13 saga continues. Welcome to the next round, Allyson Schwartz (D-PA)
14. Mike Doyle (D-PA) 7 - Hostettler 4 - Buyer 1 - La Tourette 1
15. Charlie Dent (R-PA) 8 - Pryce 4 - Burton 1
16. Ralph Regula (R-OH) 7 - Pitts 3 - Sodrel 2 - Pence 1.
Congratulations to all the winners. New bracket up in a minute.

What if you had replays for the tie-ers, drawing them into new pairings?
Hm. I'd rather not change the rules midships.
However, I'll use a different tiebreaker from round 2 (when there'll only be one-on-ones): The candidate Ivoted for loses.

11. John M Spratt (D-SC) 6 - Kingston 3 - Davis 0 - Hayes 0
12. James Clyburn (D-SC) 5 - Myrick 3 - Bishop 1
13. Jim Marshall (D-GA) 6 - Linder 2 - McHenry 1
14. Gingrey 3 - McKinney 3 - Taylor 3 - Westmoreland 0
My die is a Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) fan.
15. John Lewis (D-GA) 5 - Norwood 2 - Watt 2
16. John Barrow (D-GA) 4 - Miller 3 - Deal 1 - Price 1

Low turnout, Dem dominance among voters, and partisan voting made this one pretty dull...of the just three Republicans to advance to the next round, two were in all-Republican groups (and one of them won with the votes of all Lefties against all Righties), and the third only won due to a split opposition and a die roll.
Can we please have some more Republicans voting in the next round? It'll be full of Floridans. Smiley

Congrats Al.
I've just calculated the current standings, and your vote broke the only tie around before then - but created five[/b] new ones.
