I was just reminded of a short story by German author Vladimir Kaminer (who is a Russian immigrant, but writes in German). It's about this half-Iranian friend of his who is an actor and gets a job (playing theatre) in a small town...anyways the lines I was reminded of were:
"There were virtually no other foreigners there. In fact, the only place where Jakob found any foreigners was in the brothel. Not that they were seeking enjoyment there - oh no. They were working hard for their living."
Goes on with some [non-correct] stuff about any German town over a certain population may legally have a brothel, the place in question had just grown over that size, and the owner of the brothel (which of cours had existed long before) put up some advertising at the door. "Immediately a citizen's activist group formed to protest against the brothel. 'Our children can not feel safe anymore' its spokesman proclaimed. The advertisement was taken down again."

Let's just say that...while you are right in a sense...these sort of crimes happen over here too.

Not sure about rape actually. Certainly not sure about the kind of "raping and murdering a random child" sort of horror we're talking here. I know there's no real difference in the overall crime rate. I also know there's a gigantic difference in the murder rate - in the US, it's about three times what it's here.

"Underage sex is wrong"? Hey, I may very well have had more sex before I was 18 then after. Which is saying more than I should let on about my heartbreaking abilities these days. Anyways, that was "wrong"? I think it's my turn to act outraged soon.
