So, what part of South America are you from? And why is a Peruano called "Peruvian" in English?

Speaking of the holocaust, Hitler was a good christian boy, and Naziism was quite comfortable with German christianity and vice versa.  It was a movement towards 'traditional German values' - sounds familiar eh?

What the f**ck are you talking about? Catholics were oppressed in Nazi Germany. In churches, the Bible was banned and replaced by Mein Kampf. You are truly ignorant.
No, sorry, you are, on this count. Where did you get that absurd crap from?
While relationships between the Nazi government and the Catholic Church were not *entirely* cosy, they were a lot better than those between the Church and any previous German government post-1870.
German Lutheranism, the other big religion over here, is in essence a state cult anyways. Of course there was dissent, and of course, dissenters were oppressed, arrested, murdered (we're talking the Nazis after all)...but they do not represent the Church.
One church that *really* was suppressed and prosecuted in Nazi Germany, though I haven*t got the slightest clue as to why, is Jehova's Witnesses.

A Catholic centrist party helped bring Hitler to power. Only the Communists and Social Democrats opposed Hitler.
The Zentrum split on the vote over the Ermächtigungsgesetz (which I guess you're referring to), actually. A clear majority of its MPs voted in favor, though.

And as this thread now includes some International discussion stuff, there's no need to delete or move it, right?

The Fuhrer will probably delete it anyhow.

Put up or shut up: Go to Dave on the Atlas board and complain or stop engaging in personal attacks against me.
That line was pretty crass...but funny anyhow.

I'm pretty sure that Heinrich Brüning (Zentrum, chancellor 1930-2) voted against. I'd guess some SPD members were not present.
And IIRC the Federal Republic of Germany's first president Theodor Heuss (DVP at the time, later FDP) voted for it.

Just checked on Brüning etc.
There was a caucus debate and vote. Brüning argued and voted against it there, but was defeated. He did vote yes in Parliament.

Se llaman in ingles "peruvians" para la misma razón que ustedes llamanos "Amerikaner"  Verdad?  O, para la misma razon que se llaman ustedes "aleman"

klar?
We don't call you "Amerikaner"...we might write it sometimes. We call you "Amis". Smiley
But basically you seem to say there is no reason...I doubt that. There's no reason why it has to be so (obviously), but there must be an etymology, right?

Yeah, I get that...but it's just an exercise in semantics, isn't it? Where did the "vi" come from?

What do you think about teaching Southern English in Northern schools as a foreign language? Do you think that it would be more popular than Spanish, French or German?

They're doing it in Oakland already.  It's called Ebonics.  It was a bad idea in California, and it's probably a bad idea anywhere else.  My wife can barely understand the local blacks, and I don't think the solution is to get all americans speaking that way, but to try to get these folks speaking US standard english properly.
"Y'all need sumpin else?  No?  A'ight, that be fo fitty fo."
"I beg your pardon."
"Fo fitty fo, biyatch, stop frontin' yo."
----"Hey, just give her a five baby, don't worry about it."
"okay, here's five dollars."
"A'ight, here y'all change:  fotee sik cent."
Peace.  out.

They allow the WalMart serfs to call the customers 'bitch'?
