I've been half-meaning to try British constituencies with Australian type names for a while now (essentially an excuse to unload yet more meaningless trivia onto this small corner of the internets).

Except a lot of Australian riding names are essentially completely random.

Then about the only unifying name would be that of a river (the Avon), unless 'ghastly outer Perth sprawlburbia' counts (and I'm sure it doesn't).

Looking at the electoral map, Perth North works fine.
Not really.

It's all the nonmetropolitan shires from Gingin to Beverley and the "greater part" of the two northeastern intra-metro government units (the city of Swan and the shire of Mundaring to the south of it). So if anything it'd be Perth Northeast... but really it's more an exurbanized rural (what Aussies call "regional", ie not the extra-remote bush country) district than anything describable as part of the city of Perth. And thus should not be named Perth.

While it's possible that Wichita wouldn't be named just that (more likely in a local gov't ward than a constituency though; same for including "central" in the Big First's name though there's a much better case for doing that esp. now that it includes Manhattan) it clearly should be.

Yeah; harsh gerrymandering makes this impossible. Don't try.

What's being alluded to here is the fact that in the early days of the forum (like a decade or so ago now) several of us did in fact try. Drove us all completely mad.
Al and me, we only went mad once, though.

Decided to stay.
