Only if you're considering the Irish to be innately inferior and they actually are being discriminated against in your country.

Of course, the people and time when that actually applied... didn't use that word. "Irish" was insult enough for them. (Working class Brits of the same time actually used "Mick" already, though.)

As somebody with an Irish first AND last name, I've been called this more than once or twice.  Never been offended.
