Joe Lieberman ran for Senator and Vice President at the same time. I got no problem with that.

Well, I'm not attacking you.

PS Kemp: While it's not quite the same, the essential part remains that we're all running with a safety net. We have a position even if we don't win.

Is KEmperor "running for re-election" for Chief Justice? No. It's a different situation.

If Lewis is running for re-election for Lt. Governor next month than I don't think he should be running either.
I'm not. I'm in the middle of my term, just like John Kerry was.

That makes no sense at all really. Its a dumb "custom".

I'm interested to hear why you think that.
I don't know why he thinks that, but I can tell you why it is:
Because it means the loser of an election, no matter how many votes he got, will be out of a job on election day.
And that, of course, is a big disincentive to all but the richest to run.

From the way I see it, States doesent understand the difference between running for two offices at the same time, as he would if he had continued to run for president, and running for president but still be in the middle of their term.  I know in the last presidential Hughento, Akno, and I think Nation decided not to run for reelection because they were all running for the white house.  However Harry, htmldon and MAS all continued to stay in their positions because they were not up for reelection at the same time.

Since States has been here forever, I expected him to know this difference.

I think this tradition is in here just to discourage people from running for two things at once.  When you get down to it, the population of Atlasia has enough people who are hungry to run for something, and allowing people to run for two things at once discourages this.

This tradition stuff is nonsensical bullpoop. The way the system is set up I can never run for president because my reelection comes up at the same time as every presidential campaign. I have the right to hold my senate seat as long as I want to and as long as I feel I want to.
...and as long as the voters permit.
Good point you're bringing up about your senate seat always up at the same time as presidential elections, that doesn't happen in the real life Senate.
