As they say, never trust a man with gold rings. And never trust a rich man with a pooja mark.

Say what you like about Indian politicians, when they're corrupt they are so in style. None of this mucking about with dodgy expenses or dodgy friends.
That too actually, but it doesn't count as "corruption" because they all do that. And have to to win election as municipal dogcatcher.

Wikipedia on this Lingayat from a bit further north than I know my way about:

"In 2004, his wife died after falling into and drowning in a nearby well under mysterious circumstances. No case was registered."

Ahem.

I followed the links. Seems to be just a case of unfortunate wording.

However, while following the links I also came upon this gem

"Yediyurappa has decided to change, on the advice of his astrologer, the way he spells his name. He has now become Yeddyurappa, instead of Yediyurappa. BJP sources said the new spelling would bring him luck." That was when he took office as CM in 2007 (he resigned just a couple of months ago, over the very scandal that got him into jail now.)

Is this thread really necessary? I just go ahead and assume all Indian politicians are corrupt and criminals unless proven otherwise.
He's certainly not the first Chief Minister of Karnataka ever accused of corruption... but he is the first one to ever be arrested.
