I believe he was on his predecessor's staff, so would have contacts and know the district, but the last time this came up I remember people mostly commenting on how blah he looked in his official photo.

That (and that the district is part of a bipartisan incumbent protect gerrymander that doesn't seem to be working as well as California's though the districts look fabulously bad) is all I know about Hare, really. Longterm associate of his predecessor (personal friend, too?) IIRC.
