Terrible train crash just occurred in Mexico City. Bridge carrying a train near Olivos station collapsed.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/may/04/mexico-city-overpass-collapse-metro-train-carriagesAt least 13 dead. No mention of a vehicle impacting the bridge or any other specific cause for the "support beam" failure.
"Mexico City’s mayor, Claudia Sheinbaum, said on Twitter that a support beam had given way, causing the overpass to collapse.
The accident happened at around 10:30pm local time on the metro’s Line 12, also known as the Gold Line. It was opened in 2012."
A nine year old bridge suffered catastrophic structural failure? That makes me think some combination of shoddy construction and/or deferred (or non existent) maintenance will end up being the cause of the accident.
