Would I be shocked? No.  No I would not.

But yes, let's wait until this gets verified.*

At some point these people have to start coming forward. Majority of the military, especially the upper levels are not fond of Trump. If they come forward they will be protected, if they don't, nothing changes and he still has at least a one in three chance this November.

You could argue that nothing would change either way, based on the past three years or so.

More 'anonymous' sources from legacy media. They are the enemy of the people.

"The media is not your friend"
-CNN's Chris Cuomo

These anonymous sources seem credible. This article is a good guide to the topic. There are multiple sources, they are specific claims about a past event. They're not just saying it is "people familiar with Trump's thinking" but someone within a smaller subset of people that would be close to Trump and Kelly and so should be accurate. The denial is mixed, while it does say it is false it also deflects to other issues and doesn't explain why Trump cancelled his visit to the cemetery or why the other specific claims are false. So this story is credible and should be accurate.
Yes. Believe the legacy media, that have been proven to be liars and have ties to the DNC.

They are really going all out with the bs smears this week. Must be worried.

Haven't heard the term "legacy media" in a long while.

That's the beauty of the Qanon theory for Drumpf; the more he is denounced by people in military and intelligence the more his staunchest followers assume he's a martyr. He is probably the most genuinely cultish figure in politics since Joseph McCarthy.

I don't know, that Kim Il Sung really did some *damn* fine cult work.

Just admit it. You’d defend Trump no matter what.
Just admit it. You'd defend Biden even if he had an aneurysm during the debates.

I mean, an aneurysm wouldn't be Biden's fault, per se.  But that's getting off-topic here.

First of all, read your username as "BaconRepublican" and was very disappointed when I gave it a second read.

Second, as someone from a military family, "I like people who weren't captured" tells me all I need to know about Trump and our servicemen/women.

Third, welcome to the forums!

And yes, he said stuff about McCain, but let's be clear that he was just riling up his base and wasn't actually serious.

"He was a war hero because he was captured...I like people who weren't captured."

Where's the joke, the sarcasm, or the hook?

We've had both The Simpsons and Futurama posted today.  Anybody got a good Bob's Burgers meme?

Not everyone is cut out for military service, not everybody who does serve is going to see active combat.  And that's okay.

But I have zero tolerance for anybody who didn't serve criticizing the service of those who did -- in ANY capacity.

I want names and recordings, if not, THEN I DON'T CARE

You wouldn't care if you had names and recordings either. After all, calling American war dead losers and questioning why our military bothers trying to bring POWs home is just locker room talk; all men do it!

Very normal.  Very fair.

From The Hill:

Quote
"I didn't hear that," Bolton told The New York Times. "I'm not saying he didn't say them later in the day or another time, but I was there for that discussion."

So you have Bolton (sorta) denying that Trump said what was reported -- I say "sorta" because "I didn't hear that" is different from "he never said that".  Then, you have alleged senior officials confirming that he did.

As of now, it just reinforces that this comes down to a "he said-he said"-type situation.  If you believe he said what was reported, nothing will move you from that position.  Same deal if you don't.

Donald Trump got 4 education deferments to the Vietnam War and then his daddy made a deal with a Doctor/tenet to get him a final medical deferment. Trump has lied about getting lucky in the draft, this is nonsense.

There is also good evidence his admission into college was fraudulent. With his sister admitting that she wrote his papers and another kid likely took his College entrance exams. His "loser" brother Fred Trump Jr.(Donald and Fred Trump's own words) who was not a killer(again the Trump's worldview) actually got Donald into Wharton. Donald Trump was interviewed and recommended for admission by a man named James Nolan who was a classmate and close friend of Fred Trump Jr. Never mind that Wharton wasn't very difficult to get into back then, Trump still needed legacy and preferential treatment. Trump has also lied repeatedly over the years and claimed he graduated top of his class which is a clear lie since he was not even on the Dean's List.

Even the College Republicans here at PENN don't like to advertise that he's an alum.

https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/trump-came-dover-after-my-wife-was-killed-fighting-isis-ncna1239425

Quote
Together, as we waited for the plane that would bring Shannon home, we spent another 20 minutes talking about my wife, our children and what an amazing mother, wife, and soldier she was. It was clear to me that President Trump truly cared — not just that Shannon and three others had been killed in Syria, but about who Shannon and the three others were as people.

Then the president did something that I did not expect: he asked me what I thought about Syria and what we were doing there. He talked to me — a Green Beret and a combat veteran, not some expert at the Pentagon or a think tank — about the wisdom leaving troops in harm's way once ISIS’s territorial caliphate had been destroyed. It was clear to me that he was deeply conflicted about whether staying in Syria was worth the lives lost — Shannon and her three colleagues — on that day in January.

Quote
President Trump’s actions have shown our troops more respect than any president in my lifetime. His use of decisive military force only when absolutely necessary, combined with his reluctance to use the military as the sole tool of foreign policy, is not only good and smart, but the sign of utmost respect for the lives of our troops.

I believe people who sign their names to a statement.  Not unnamed, anonymous coward and liars.

Quote
Joe Kent is a Gold Star husband and a retired Army officer with 20 years of experience. He sits on the board of Military Families for Trump.

I believe both. There are enough anecdotal stories that he can be very personable and a good man sometimes. I don't disbelieve that. Doesn't cancel out all the other crap he says and does.

I was reading an account of Trump from someone who met him as a young kid (I believe during the early 2000's).  The guy's brother grabbed the plush Spongebob he was holding and hurled it across the hotel lobby.

Trump responded with "well, there goes Spongebob."

The thing is: for as much as I dislike Trump, that story made me smirk and I can definitely see him saying that.

Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, said his magazine's story about Trump calling Americans who died in battle "losers" and "suckers," was just the tip of the iceberg.

"I would fully expect more reporting to come out about this and more confirmation and new pieces of information in the coming days and weeks," Goldberg told CNN's Chief Media Correspondent Brian Stelter on "Reliable Sources" Sunday. "We have a responsibility and we're going to do it regardless of what he says."

https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/06/media/jeffrey-goldberg-atlantic-trump-reliable-sources/index.html

It seems likely that there's a ton of other negative information about Trump out there.  I wonder if there will be a steady drip of it until Election Day, consuming the news cycles and effectively crowding out any effort by Trump to make the race about Biden.

But playing devil's advocate, how often have we heard that there's "more damning info" about Trump (or insert Democratic politician here)" over the past three-years-and-change only for us never to hear about the issue again?
