Charles Martel defeated the Umayyads some place between Tours and Poitiers.

English Wiki refers to it as the Battle of Tours and the Battle of Poitiers on the French wiki Grin Only the Germans have accepted a compromise and the article is called 'Schlacht von Tours und Poitiers'

Ok, well, Umayyads were a dynasty of Arabs...

The elite, but the Umayyad Caliphate extended, at its reach, to North Africa, the Persian world, part of the modern Turkish world, Andalusia, Catalonia, Lusitania, southern Septimania and the rest of Spain excluding most of what is today Euskadi, Cantabria and Asturias.

No. Milorad Blagojevich is a great man who deserves a Nobel Prize.

And I never said it was. I was just pointing out that the Umayyad Caliphate did not only include Arabs.

To quote Georges Frêche, the honourable President of the Languedoc-Roussillon, he was "an idiot".

Francois Bayrou is a centrist

(False: He's either a Bible-bashing Catholic or a secular leftie)

Especially considering that the 'celtic' 'occitan' 'other regional cultures in France' aspect was strongly associated with a strong sense of romantic ruralism and anti-modernism.

Yay!

Pardon, French hacking in the conversation, don't pay attention, continue...

(no, Hash, I don't speak about you... Wink)

Not this sh**t again, Benoit. Please.
