Kingdom of Sweden: Midturn Report

-Queen Regent Hedwig Eleonora, you rule over Pomeranian territory in the Holy Roman Empire. This raises questions of sovereignty, and could threaten the territories. You have had strained relations with the Emperor ever since the end of the 30 Years’ War. Brandenburg, too, is a threat to your German possessions. How will you conduct relations with the Emperor and other states in the Empire so as to not endanger your holdings?

We hope to work with the Holy Roman Emperor and have a peaceful, mutually beneficial relationship. We will reach out to the Habsburgs and see what both sides want from a possible solution.

-In foreign policy, you have left your traditional French ally to form the Triple Alliance. With the French halted in Flanders, the usefulness of the alliance is at an end. Perhaps you should try to reconcile with your traditional French ally, as new allies must be found to battle your many enemies. Denmark remains your greatest enemy, and many suspect that the resentful Danes may try to recapture Scania. To the east, the Russian menace threatens Finland and the Baltics, greatly strengthened since their victory over the Poles. What foreign policy will you pursue to protect your northern empire?

We hope to establish friendships with France and the Dutch and create diplomatic ties between our countries. To safeguard our interests

-New Sweden was lost to the Dutch 15 years ago, and since then you have had no presence in the New World. Perhaps it is time to make a move. Some have suggested going after Greenland. Though claimed by the Danes, it remains largely isolated and out of Danish control. Others have proposed taking back New Sweden, and even the West Indies have been mentioned as a possibility. Will you attempt to colonize the New World, or should focus remain on Northern European affairs?

We will attempt to colonize the area north of the French settlement (on the islands of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward today), and offer our citizens a small financial compensation and tract of land to settle there.

III. The signatories agree to a general reduction of tariffs, at the rate of 5% each year over the next three years, on all goods traded between themselves.

Swedish-Dutch Reaffirmation Treaty

I.  The Dutch Republic and The Kingdom of Sweden reaffirm their commitment to the Triple Alliance, and promise to remain allied to eachother in the coming years.

II.  Tariffs for both export and import between our two countries shall be reduced by 7.5% each year for the following 4 years.

III.  Both countries agree to avoid levying fees on the docking and trading of commercial vessels in their ports beyond those levied on their own vessels.

IV.  Both countries agree to entrust the other's merchants with the same rights and freedom of travel as their own.

Kingdom of Sweden Turn Report

The Queen Regent of Sweden would like to make the following decrees:

1. Our Navy will be expanded, due to the expanding influence of the Kingdom of Sweden. It will be expanded at a rate of 5 ships a year for the next 6 years.

2. Our Military will also be expanded accordingly. It is hoped 20,000 new troops can be raised over the course of two years. half of which will be stationed with the Army of Sweden. The other half will be split between the Armies of Finland and Pommerania.

3. Our Colonization efforts will be redoubled in the New World. We will spend more money on encouraging the industries of Fishing, Timber and Fur Trapping in addition to the previous land grants.

4. With Respect to the Pommerania Situation, Sweden hopes this may come to a peaceful conclusion and will work to ensure this occurs.
