I think it's pretty clear this guy has to be seated.  Reid would have to be a complete idiot to not seat him, and even if he didn't, the law is on Burris's side.

Are you kidding? Why?

Blago should just be impeached. If the Constitution only allows those Governors who have committed a crime to be impeached, why not just amend the Constitution? Or why not just impeach him anyway, let him appeal it to the state Supreme Court, and have the State Supreme Court stall indefinitely?

The first offensive thing he did was accept Blago's nomination. He is now tainted with the destruction of Illinois.

If this Burris guy makes it into the Senate he should be no zero committees. He should not be invited to any meetings. Reid should arrange to have one of the junior Senate Dems cast a canceling vote to every vote he makes.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/01/01/aides-democrats-have-plan-if-burris-shows-up/

The Democrats are going to physically block Burris from entering the floor.

They better make sure that their doorman is black, and if not, hire a black doorman.  Otherwise  you'll be making Bobby Rush campaign propaganda

Yes! They are finally showing some guts! I hope they hire the blackest doorman in the country. He'll be blacker than oil.

Another win for Blago. The Dems are getting their asses handed to them by a soon-to-be behind bars guy with a 1982 haircut. If this is the way they run the country a certain Russian professor will be looking smart in a few years. Smiley Either that or I'll be supporting Blago for his 2016 Presidential run.

This just shows how disgusting the whole appointment process has been shown up to be. Forget Blago. The only reason we know about this is because Blago was caught on tape because the Feds were taping his conversations, because he was already under investigation for other things. For all we know similar or other unscrupulous lobbying could have occurred in Colorado, Delaware or New York.

When you have a few insiders deciding things, you can never really say for certain that an ethical decision is being made. There is absolutely nothing that can prevent unscrupulous behavior from entering into the process.

The appointment system should be abolished. All Governors should be required by law to appoint caretakers and a special election should be held as quickly as logistically possible.
