Functionally, I believe the circumstances that America found itself in at the end of WWII should have led to a much longer period of world domination than actually happened.  But the actual circumstances themselves were more due to luck and good planning rather than skill.

So, yes, it probably was the peak of America - though I would place the end at 1971.  And the beginning at 1949.

Truth be told, we still dominate the world, by quite a good bit.  But that's on the path to ending fairly soon, probably sooner than we think.  And nearly all of it has to do with the policies that were put in place during the "peak" period (or right before).

You speak as if that is a bad thing...

Otherwise, I would go along with that. At least from an economic point of view.
