Very curious to see the boost Gideon got last night from the DNC

I have a feeling Collins will put out one more victory.

Collins has not led a single public poll this entire year.

McLaughlin said last week that their NRSC internal polling shows Collins ahead outside the margin of error. The guy was obviously wildly overconfident about his party's chances of holding the Senate and often doesn’t know what he’s talking about, but I do think that there’s more uncertainty in this race than in AZ/CO/NC and that Democrats were right to expand the map into KS/MT/etc., especially in case Collins ekes out another win and they don’t get all 4 pick-ups in AZ/CO/NC/ME. I’m not necessarily predicting that it will happen, but it’s interesting how confident Republicans seem to be about this particular race given what all the polling which has actually been released so far has shown.

well their first mistake was making McLaughlin the polling go-to.... what in the world?

I would imagine it would help Gideon? Since I would think most 3rd party voters would probably majority go to her?

The first Senate debate just ended. Whoever debate prepped with Gideon needs to get fired. None of her attacks on Collins landed (unfortunately). She let Collins run right over her and get away with untruths all over the place. It's sad when the independent Lisa Savage who hasn't been in politics is more coherent and on point. Max Linn was a joke and kept hawking different websites he created but even he landed a couple of jabs at Collins that landed better than anything Gideon did. What a mess...

Hopefully Collins doesn't get much of a bounce from this.

Collins literally couldn't even answer about supporting Trump or not. How is that good for Collins?

Collins was prepared for it, didn't miss a beat, and said Mainers didn't need her advice on who to vote for for president. Whether you agree or not (and she was clearly dodging), most people in the middle who are making up their minds would see that as a reasonable answer. Later in the debate, Collins asked Gideon if she would have supported Justice Roberts, and Gideon literally stumbled and looked like a blubbering mess. It wasn't a good look.

Yeah, it sounds like you're giving way too much credit to Collins here. Her dodging and and saying Mainers don't need advice is not a good answer either. Gideon dodged, but it was bad, but Collins dodged and it was fine? I don't think most people in the middle would be okay with Collins dodging but Gideon dodging on a much more irrelevant question.

Also, what does John Roberts have to do with this? If I was Gideon, I'd probably be unprepared too. Who cares if she would've voted for Roberts? That's such an irrelevant question and nowhere on the same level on whether Collins supports *The President of The United States*

The amount of Gideon ads you get in Maine is insane.

Also I'm York County. I've seen slightly more Biden signs than Trump signs, lots of signs in general.

I've seen more Gideon signs than Biden signs.

Haven't seen a Collins sign yet.

Glad that Gideon is putting all that $$$$ to work

How do you all think people are just going to forget her vote to confirm Kavanaugh and her vote to acquit Trump just because she might vote no on a nominee where her vote is not needed at all???

This is very smart on Gideon's behalf. Honestly, more senate candidates should be doing this. I don't think normal everyday people realize just how many conservative judges are being confirmed every single day

Yeah as soon as I saw her "both sides" comment I was flabbergasted. She's terrible at this.

Interesting to see people thinking Collins is somehow a surefire winner in this race for seemingly no tangible reason whatsoever and considering this race has not really moved much in 6 months. But sure, in the final 3 weeks with an unpopular president, Collins sure has it!

I was someone who actually thought Collins was favored, but she's missed so many opportunities to try and save herself, and now I feel more confident about this flip than I ever have, oddly enough.

And I don't mean to be rude or flip to anyone, but it's just severely odd that we haven't had *any* good news (tangible, real good news) for Collins aside from some shoddy endorsements no one cares about in a while and suddenly people are all "Collins is gonna win this now!!"

I'm surprised Gideon has not announced her $$ fundraising yet. Probably bigger than Greenfield/Cunningham's $28M

As the Election Day approaches and Biden victory becomes more and more likely, voters who dislike Trump will start to fear a Democratic trifecta. I believe they will break for Collins so that she could be a check on Biden. After all, she has track record of being a moderate and independent thinking and not following the party line.

Lol, she voted for the Trump tax plan and Kavanough.  She only votes against Republican leadership when she is allowed to because they already have the votes.  Republicans have her vote unless she isn’t needed.

If Collins was so independent and such a “moderate hero”, she would be actively working right now to stop ACB’s confirmation.

I am talking about the voters who are concerned about a possible Democratic dominance of the Congress and the Executive. Their natural choice to prevent that from happening is Collins.

Are there that many voters in Maine who are worried about a Democratic dominance considering both district seem very likely to send a Democrat to the House?

narrator: there aren't

Collins's biggest advantage will be a belief that Biden is assured victory and a desire to check the presidency.

This is not going to happen. Voters no longer trust the polls after 2016.

People are smarter than this. They know Collins only voted no bc the Rs already had the votes. Her vote was useless either way.

Maine, please vote Susan Collins out!

I second this. As a black person, I'm fully aware of how many whites have downplayed, and continue to downplay, institutional racism within this country. It doesn't surprise me that Susan Collins, an elderly white woman who lives in a state that is well over 90% white, would be so ignorant on such issues. Fortunately, it looks like Maine is going to give her a pink slip in less than a week, after a quarter of a century.

What kind of systemic racism is there in Maine?

what a disgusting comment. you should be ashamed of yourself.

You wonder what would've happened if it was just Gideon vs Collins. Collins barely eked out 51%, if there was no Savage, etc, would've been closer. Too bad Collins couldn't of at least gotten dragged under 50
