Cunningham raised $7.4 million in Quarter 2, a record for North Carolina.

Tillis hasn't reported his fundraising yet.

Remember when people kept calling Cunningham a meh recruit? Turns out he's a star recruit imo

Cunningham is neither a "meh" nor a "star" recruit, he’s a generic Democrat who’s lucky that he’s running in a Democratic wave year.

He could easily screw it up though if he wasn't good. Turns out he's the exact candidate that fits NC.

He can still screw it up. Fundraising numbers are a very weak indicator compared to his less-than-stellar polling.

He's probably better than average, but the windowless basement, consultant-driven strategies carries plenty of its own risks (Jeff Jackson would seem to have been a better choice here, but perhaps - as previously alluded to - the DSCC rejected him because of skeletons in the closet) and his relative lack of a previous political record in the state (unlike e.g. Roy Cooper) means he's far from the strongest candidate.

"less than stellar polling"? He's consistently been up in numerous polls in a state that Trump won in 2016, what?

God damn all those #Resistance moms donating to McGrath instead of giving to other competitive races.

Cunningham literally just raised $7M+. Looks like they're donating to all.

Republicans need to start realizing that they are crying wolf with the socialism thing. You can't just keep yelling that everyone is a socialist

Cunningham pitches to the anti-vaxx crowd:

A) it's not the anti-vax crowd
B) people need to stop acting like this is some type of scandal. polls even show a majority of the American public is skeptical about a vaccine b/c of Trump literally ratf**king every single god damn agency and organization in this entire country.

Cunningham pitches to the anti-vaxx crowd:

This is clearly a "Trump administration will push a vaccine that's not ready" pitch

Also, the original tweeter is being dishonest. She says that he said he wouldn't when literally in the next line of the tweet he says he's "hesitant"

I find it interesting how much money Cunningham has raised despite him being  called a boring no name canidate by most people on atlas
Atlas is consistently wrong so.... lol

Yep. Cunningham seems like a perfect for NC. Same with Greenfield for IA, Harrison for SC, and Kelly for AZ. Recruiting was pretty damn good this cycle.

This whole "scandal" seems like a nothingburger and already appears to be overshadowed by everything else going on.

http://american-ledger.com/accountability/thom-tillis-ex-wife-cites-cruel-and-inhuman-treatment-in-divorce-documents/

Lmao. I had a dream last night that Tillis would have some relationship dirt that would be dug up, and lo and behold.

Quote
According to court filings obtained by American Ledger, North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis’ ex-wife alleged “cruel and inhuman treatment” by Tillis, raising questions about the reasons surrounding the couple’s eventual divorce. In Tennessee, where the couple was married, “cruel and inhuman treatment” legally includes domestic violence, adultery, emotional or verbal abuse, and sexual assault.

The divorce complaint, filed in August 1979 on Tillis’ birthday, stated that Tillis was “guilty of such cruel and inhuman treatment or conduct towards the plaintiff as renders further cohabitation unsafe and improper.” The divorce filing also noted that Tillis’ ex-wife felt “unsafe and improper” living with Tillis any further because of his actions, which may include any or all of the actions outlined in the law.

Welp...

Yeah, it's starting to feel like the Charlotte Observer is not on the up and up. A) this "scandal" did not deserve 3 entire front page top headlines and B) I see they've conveniently left out anything about Tillis contracting COVID or his own scandal

No one is getting "overconfident" that Cunningham will win. But it's just being realistic that in this current environment, this "scandal" is unlikely to truly break thru. IN a normal year, maybe, but not really now

Are the voters who fell for this ploy in 2016 really going to be duped again?
Not likely considering that a plurality still believes that Trump will win.

yeah the problem here is that people dont generally believe the polls anymore
