If people want I can release first round results tonight, or whatever works if people have more campaigning to do.

I will give the government time to organize policy moves and a strategy against the no confidence vote (whether that be gaining the votes to stop it or just calling for new elections), but the procedure keeping the vote down will run out and I will put it up in the thread I'll say July 21st perhaps? Depends on how fast they move.

I actually can't imagine the Social Democrats voting to keep Von Papen in power, based on their reaction to his support of the "personal loyalty oaths to Hindenburg", but then again, I can't imagine them siding with the Nazis and the Communists either.

This scenario should be very interesting.

Indeed

I can assure you there has been a lot of wheeling and dealing behind the scenes

I'd sacrifice the Republic to save democracy -- accept a British-style constitutional monarchy to keep the DNVP from aligning with the Nazis.

Basically the structure of the German Reich remained, but there was simply no Kaiser.

Would you like to join?

So who would the monarch be in your scenario?

Hindenburg?

I can tell you right now Hitler won't agree to that.

I think he means Wilhelm II or III

New character dilemmas should be up tomorrow, as we see what actions FvP will take...

I’m not sure if it’s possible to have a no confidence vote in a single minister, but the government from my knowledge is taking a look

Seems like it.

Quote from: Article 54, Constitution of 1919
The Chancellor and national ministers must have the confidence of the Reichstag for the exercise of their offices. Any one of them must resign if the Reichstag withdraws its confidence by express resolution.

Ah thank you

Check in

How do ya'll like the way the game is going?

Personally its gone well beyond my best guesses for how this would go but I'd love to hear game related questions and concerns.

Special thanks to Dereich for joining on request and being the very best FvP.

Procedural question

Do abstentions reduce the majority threshold?

This question is of vital importance to the current proposal

So I’d like to hear out GotFan and Devout Centrist too

Legally, a majority of all non-abstaining votes would pass the motion.

That makes sense

Really tempted to join at this point, is there a character/party which is important to have filled? Have been going through some alternatives (Lettow Vorbeck, Rupprecht of Bavaria, Hugo Eckener, maybe Goering) but I'm unconvinced by them.

Of those I recommend Rupprecht von Bayern, Lettow Vorbeck is also good.

Brüning is probably moving into irrelevance, but perhaps. Kaas is somewhat of a boring personality which little information on him, you'd really be just a Zentrum party man, when I can just do that myself.

Göring or Gregor Strasser could be helpful, and I am just introducing Otto Strasser back into politics as well.

Perhaps a military figure like Ludwig Beck? It's up to you! Cheesy

My, it's surprisingly difficult to choose (changed my mind on Beck at the last moment). Still, Lettow-Vorbeck it is.

Any new players from here on out should probably take Nazi or leftist politicians though

We have many conservatives

Hitler would be interested in an interview (don't the Nazis actually control a newspaper or two at this point?)
Oh every party certainly does
This is just a centralized way for you to make your case to me, the public, and your fellow players

I understand there’s a lot of intrigue going on

Germany needs a government, any government soon

I hope we have a cabinet within the next day

Kurt von Schleicher is whisked away to a plane, and for now at least is gone from the main scene of the game.

Paul von Hindenburg realizes he has very little control of who comes and who goes among his advisors

Let’s let everyone calm and recalculate the situation
