In presidential elections, not really.  I mean, I was a Republican when I voted for H.W. Bush in 1988.  I did vote for Ross Perot in 1992 and dearly wish I could have that one back.

In the Senate, I often find myself voting for Richard Lugar.  I really disagree with him on a lot of issues but I admire his work to account for and eliminate loose nukes...an issue I think requires much more attention.  Too, he has had few credible Democratic opponents.

I know it's not part of the original question, but I was a huge fan of Fort Wayne's four-term Republican Mayor, Paul Helmke.
