Why do the Democrats hate the rich? Obama wants to double the capital gains taxes? That hurts a lot more than the rich. However, if you make over $75,000 a year, you are considered rich to the Dems! I guess their argument makes sense.
Who said anything about 75-K being rich? The figure I keep hearing is between 200 and 250-K per year. I realize Lauch Faircloth considered people earning 400-K per year to be middle class, but it's just not so.
I really don't know how I feel about taxing capital gains. We get nailed because we're pretty well off. But we consider it a privilege to pay taxes. You know that whole "promote the general welfare" thing? We really believe it.
