I think Bill Richardson would be an excellent choice for either.
You'd think so, based on his resume, wouldn't you. But his performance in the debates and on the campaign trail wasn't just bad. It was HORRIBLE. I must have seen him in five or six debates before he dropped out and in each one, he seemed confused, addled and unprepared. I couldn't believe this was the guy who had been Governor of New Mexico, a Congressman, a U.N. Ambassador and a Secretary of Energy. On a couple of different occasions, he even referred to our need to take a tough, but diplomatic stance with "the Soviet Union". I know what he meant. But seriously -- get the name right. I really wanted him to be good, too. But he was just awful.
So given that, he would be a terrible pick. Which means nothing. Edwards was an awful pick. Lieberman was a terrible choice. Quayle was a worthless selection.
I'd say Richardson is in the running. But my gut impulse today is where it was six months ago.
If Clinton wins the nomination -------------> Wesley Clark
If Obama wins the nomination -------------> Joe Biden
