It's honestly a shame Germany, the british isles and Scandanavia all didn't follow france's early lead in slowing birthrates back in the 19th century.
Germany has had a relatively low birthrate since the turn of the century. The max number of births actually occurred around 1910 and only surpassed that for a small amount of time during the 1960s. Otherwise, without immigration, Germany has been steady or shrinking since the '70s.
France, on the other hand, has had higher birthrates and is expected to grow quite a bit.
