Cape Cod is about to get smacked.  The maritimes too.

This thing is almost as big as Sandy.  Luckily it won't give the U.S. a direct hit.

All this cold over North America and the warmth over the ocean has created a sharp gradient near the coast.  Storms ride this gradient by drawing in heat from the warm ocean and the cold from the land.

Cape Cod will get 70mph wind gusts and heavy snow.

When storms wind up that tight, it moves a lot of warm and cold air around.
