How about export $$$ per capita?  LA is high on this list but has a relatively low GSP.

What is it that Louisiana exports?

This is very misleading.  It is basically using a measure of products that are shipped directly from the state overseas.  If you grow the soybeans in Iowa and then ship them by barge down to New Orleans where they then leave the country, they are counted as being an export of Louisiana, not Iowa.

Therefore, all this does is measure the size of international ports within the various states.

Or maybe Louisiana is a significant producer of coal...

I'd like to see actual numbers of products originating in each state made for export, regardless of where they actually leave the country from.
