Deeply disturbing that this wasn’t 9-0. Whatever your political views on immigration are, Texas was very clearly legally in the wrong.

Looks like Texas plans on directly confronting the Federal Government. Biden needs to go full Ike here.

Charge Abbott with treason.

Republicans going for the optics win here.

If Democrats make a humanitarian argument, they lose. If they make a rule of law argument, they win.

Per Bill Melugin of Fox News, DeSantis, Youngkin, Kemp, Stitt, Noem, and Gianforte have all expressed support for Greg Abbott's treason.

At what point do we say enough is enough and arrest these traitorous governors for treason?

Illegal immigration is not an “invasion” no matter how many times you racist, xenophobic losers keep repeating it.

Then what is happening at our southern border? Im pretty sure its not a meet and greet?

Just call it what it is: illegal immigration.

When you call something an invasion, you are designating them enemy combatants and saying that it is okay to shoot and kill them on sight.

The Republicans Governors of the United States (sans Phil Scott) have openly declared treason against the United States.

The removal of these individuals and occupation of their states by the military is necessary until order can be restored.

You are a bigger authoritarian than Donald Trump

What is the correct response when Governors refuse to recognize the authority of the federal government? Please do tell.

That is not treason , unless every governor who enforces their state’s sanctuary city/state law is also committing treason

People have explained the difference to you countless times, so I'm not going to waste my breath.

You are an authoritarian and someone like you would be more dangerous as president than Donald Trump

I am not an authoritarian. I am a patriot who wants the Constitution to be respected.

Your party does not respect the Constitution. You are the party of treason and terror.

If someone commits treason against the US, they should be punished.

Why don't you agree?

The Supreme Court never ordered Texas to take anything down . They said the federal government can take it down if they wanted too . So it’s exactly like the sanctuary cities

There is a difference between a state refusing to help and a state actively impeding the federal government. The Constitution says explicitly that states must yield to federal law, and that they must permit federal officials to perform their duties when those officials’ actions are authorized by federal law.

The notion that Texas has to let the federal government take down the existing razor wire, but that it's acceptable for them to put up new wire is completely ridiculous.

Can someone explain to me why Biden is even fighting Texas on this?

the border is a huge liability for him and polls show even blue states voters have it rated as a top issue? Why push back on TX? That gives off a vibe that you are against tougher measures. At least allowing TX to do what they are doing may give some voters a "feeling" that we are dealing with the border, which may actually help Biden in the long run.

This isn't about immigration, it's about the authority of the federal government.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the fundamental issue is that the executive branch of the federal government is either unable or unwilling to enforce the immigration laws duly adopted by this country and supported by a supermajority of her population, so the state of Texas is willing to lend the federal government a helping hand in this area… for which offense the red avatar keyboard warriors on this forum believe that the Biden Administration must start Civil War II.

Many of them are acting way way more authoritarian than Trump as well. If they arrest Abbott , let alone every single GOP governor(except Scott) then that will prove these people dont care a bit about democracy and are actually more authoritarian than Trump.

Thankfully Joe Biden is no where near as authortarian as young progressives are

Arresting governors for committing treason is authoritarian?

Arresting people for treason despite it not being treason is the 100% defintion of authoritarian

It is treason.

https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/4432392-abbott-texas-prepared-biden-federalize-national-guard/
Quote
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said Texas is prepared in the “unlikely event” that President Biden federalizes the National Guard as the standoff over the southern border heats up.

“Well, first, I’d be shocked. That would be a boneheaded move on his part, total disaster,” Abbott told conservative host Tucker Carlson on his new show “Uncensored.”

“For one, as you might imagine, we are prepared in the event that that unlikely event does occur to make sure that we will be able to continue exactly what we’ve been doing over the past month and that is building these barriers,” Abbott added.

If ignoring the President's federalization of the national guard does not qualify as treason, then what does?

A new record.

50 Million Immigrants

The more press this gets, the more Trump will be rubbing his hands together.

Do you have a better source for this claim than an Instagram reel made by an SPLC-designated hate group?

Atlas: Southern whites vote against their own interests
Also Atlas: The South needs to be under military occupation

Why do you view these two beliefs as contradictory?

A military occupation would not be in their own interest.

Why is that?

If Mexico doesn't want them they can ship them to their southern border and let Guatemala deal with them, and if Guatemala doesn't like it they can ship them further south, and so on.

I don't know how you can say this and not feel shame, or at the very least recognize that it would be an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.

So then by your logic, all of Mexico should feel shame for shuffling those migrants through their country and passing them onto us.

...Yes, of course?
