Republicans have only themselves to blame, after all they long used the security force to harass civil rights protesters and recently even Democratic GOTV organizations. The precedent of bad decisions is coming to roost.

How will this impact the midterms?

Improved chances for Republicans to win the presidency because Trump turns off suburbanites and the Republican party’s establishment would rather see Trump lose than risk his wraith. With Ron DeSantis, there would be a united Republican party and he would continue the trends of doing well with rich minorities and their employees. That and Democrats have focused all their energy attacking Trump that switching the hate to DeSantis wouldn’t be totally applicable.

Kind of like how Republican attacks against Joe Biden fell flat because Trump thought Sanders would win the nomination, and thus it led to mixed messaging on their end.
