The hitching of Evangelical Christianity and the Republican Party as the party of Christian values, along with the Catholic Church sex scandals, has done more damage to Christianity than whatever Joe Biden could even muster if he wanted to. In the eyes of many; Christianity is tarred with hating thy peers, friends, and family while it desperately clings to power in an age where the demographics doesn’t warrant such continued domination and presence in our society. Instead of reforming itself to a new era, it has become the dreaded establishment and dominant culture imposed on a more countercultural and rebellious atmosphere.
The Democratic position isn’t even one of being against organized religion existing, much less being against Christianity. Even among Democrats, you can’t win unless you profess some veneer of Christianity and be perceived to be religious, like Biden is.
So yeah, instead of adapting to the times and reforming from within, the major movements and heads of American Christianity have instead gaslighted reformers as unbelievers and blamed it on dark forces working to do something to god or whatever. And even with it being dominant in our society at every level, there’s still this ignorant fear of religion being gone in America. To that I say I bloody wish, but no, such a thing isn’t possible now or in the future. In the meanwhile, stop hitting yourselves and dragging your claws into the earth and adapt or lose more relevance.
