The thing is... I can see him saying this. Not necessarily in a malicious manner, but I can see him saying that. Also older men complimenting teenage girls, while incredibly gross, is not that uncommon. Doesn't make it right. But at the same time I feel that there is a difference between saying something sexual and committing an unwarranted sexual advance or act.

Then again she could be lying, which is possible. After all her aunt was Biden's opponent for his Senate seat. However I don't like the practice of calling accusers liars. It's something I see too often on this board. Maybe she is lying, but I find it highly uncalled for to speculate on her motives like this. Same goes for Tara Reade, who while I don't believe, I also won't call a liar.

Regardless of their truth or not, all of these stories coming out are painting an ugly picture of Joe Biden. And that will cost us the election and doom us to 4 more years of Donald Trump, a man who has no shame and brags about grabbing women by the vagina. I just want it all to end. It's just too much. I just want this painful period of time to end.

I want to believe Joe Biden is a good man. I want to believe he is. I would be inclined to say he is. But that doesn't matter if his name gets dragged through the mud and permanently married to the image of a senile old creep. I feel my faith breaking, especially as even the most die-hard Biden supporter I know gave up on him over this. I just want hope...

I agree. But they’re never gonna be satisfied because it’s not really even about policy for some of them; it’s about a cult of personality around the leader. As long as the leader isn’t in charge, they will think it’s been rugged against him no matter how badly he lost or how many concessions are made to the loser anyway. Biden could adopt all of Bernie’s positions and they’d still hate him. Bernie could adopt all of Biden’s and they’d still love him. The only thing that seems capable of making them turn on him is when he acknowledges the outcome is legitimate and endorses his opponent.

Again, they HATE the Democratic Party more than anyone. Their hate for it is the only thing that surpasses their love for Bernie. That’s why it is indeed pointless for the party to cater to them.

However, it should be acknowledged that MOST of Bernie’s supporters aren’t really represented by the diehard Rose Twitter types either. There’s not much harm in throwing a few bones to the more “pragmatic progressives” in the platform, which doesn’t really matter anyway and if it makes the ones who might actually vote more enthusiastic, then why not? The diehard cultists who won’t vote no matter what and indeed probably want Trump to win are another story.

It wasn't really about Bernie either though. The moment Bernie endorsed Biden so many of these Very Online supporters abandoned him.
