Putin has now signed a decree simplifyng the aquiring of Russian citizenship to all citizens of Ukraine.

This procedure was just recently only available to the citizens of the occupied Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kherson.. now it applies to every Ukrainian in the country.. indication that Putin isn't willing to stop anytime soon?

Third time a US citizen has been taken captive by Russians in Ukraine. This time it's 35 year old Suedi Murekezi, who according to his has family, did not participate in any fighting, and had lived in Kherson for 2 years.. he's currently being imprisoned in Donetsk.. which has the death penalty.

Lavrov says Russia's aims in Ukraine now go beyond Donbas:

UA also announced several assaults from RU forces on the Vuhlehirsk power plant again yesterday. RU forces are now boasting that they captured it a few hours ago.

Waiting for confirmation.

To the power plant's south, Russians seem to have entered the settlement of Novoluhanske:

FM Lavrov: We want regime change in Ukraine

On the outskirts of Donetsk City, RU and it's allies shelled Avdiivka and Pisky throughout the day, they are now assaulting both settlements at the moment.

Pokrovske has fallen, there might be some defenders left in the outskirts. Either way, the road is now open towards Bakhmut. I take it the Russians will first try to secure Soledar (currently ongoing fighting) to the north before they make a move on Bakhmut itself.

The outskirts of Donetsk City is probably the most hellish place currently on the front. Taking Avdiivka might give the Russians and it's separatists some breathing room around the city, I suspect they'll advance north towards Kostiantynivka through the H20, but not before they try to secure Toretsk/New York, and it's surrounding settlements.

(Speculation)
Which the timing makes sense I guess? since the Wagnerovites are assaulting from Novoluhanske/Vuhlevirsk to the west side of the settlements, and the supply route to Bakhmut (Which is about to be assaulted soon) goes through Kostiantynivka.

Do you think Ukraine can get HIMARS or similar-type systems to strike the bridge? Do you think Russia can resist or nullify the effect of such strikes?
Have no earthly idea.

I don't know how HIMARS are designed against such targets, if they really are covering it with plates and just guzzling it all with cement I still couldn't say. Bridges in general are pretty hard to just completely destroy in wartime, even during Vietnam.

I don't know if they could render it ineffective or damage it significantly.. guess this is just one of those things we will have to watch as time goes on, just a matter of days as UA pounds the bridge, we will see how effective it is.

Livemap has Pisky and it's surroundings as under the control of RU.. if so, this is the first suburb of Donetsk City to fall since the invasion. A little surprised it fell relatively quickly when they started their assault, compared to other fronts, as I thought this was the most entrenched and heavily defended positions Ukrainians have of all fronts. But from what I have seen and heard from UA fighters on the ground, Russians have been pounding both of these settlements non-stop with artillery fire, so being mobile and effective there is probably no use.

Probably still some fighters left in the outskirts from what I can gather.
 
Avdiivka to the north is still contested. If it falls (along with Marinka to the city's west), Donetsk City proper and it's suburbs/settlements is under RU control.
