The problem is Canadian troops are fighting for the "liberation of Afghan women" in Afghanistan (its atleast one of our reasons to be there) and here in Canada we let women vote covered... Talk about that. Canada is Canada, not Saudi Arabia and I'd like to keep it that way.

Yes, and, unlike in Saudi Arabia, in Canada the women have the choice to wear or not wear the veil. If they feel that wearing the veil is an important part of their faith, well, that's their decision, not yours. The veil is not in any way interfering with the voting process.

It almost certainly is. You could show up in a veil to vote if you want, or dressed in women's clothing, or wearing only a bathing suit, or with all of your exposed skin painted green.

Liberty is not wearing (or not wearing) the veil. Liberty is being able to decide for oneself. Fighting to prohibit wearing veil is, in substance, no different from fighting to force everyone to wear veil.

As long as you can prove your identity, you should be able to vote dressed in whatever costume you like. Or would you prohibit Amish, Hassidim or the like to vote? They do dress ridiculously, don't they?

They do. At least, American Amish vote. Turnout is quite low, but they're the reason Holmes County, Ohio is so strongly Republican. (It was Blackwell's third-best county in 2006, and the only county he won in the eastern half of the state.)
